Indie Collection

Indie music and the Independent record labels that turned the music industry on its head in the 1980s with their sound and attitude still remains a huge influence today.

These independent labels were run by people with an unorthodox approach to business and a singular vision, that challenged the conventions of the record industry at the time; and who, in the aftermath of punk, embraced a DIY ethos that allowed them to build brands alongside the corporate giants.

Labels like Factory, Rough Trade & Mute broke into and sustained a position in the mainstream market signing bands such as The Smiths, Orange Juice & New Order, whose unhindered musical experimentation connected with a wide audience.

Today the independent record labels continue to play their part, Adele’s ‘21’, one of the best ever selling albums was released by independent XL.

We are proud to have such a fantastic selection of indie images within out fine art print collection.r
