Award-winning celebrity photographer Markus Klinko has shot some of the world's greatest music artists including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Kayne West and Jennifer Lopez. However, the stunning collection of images he captured of David Bowie, during an extraordinary photo shoot at the start of the millennium has defined his career.
After meeting Bowie's wife Iman in 2001, Markus was asked to shoot the cover for Bowie's forthcoming album Heathen. Inspired by Man Ray, a series of remarkable black and white and colour images was captured by Markus Klinko in just one day. The final cover image chosen for Heathen depicts Bowie as a blind man, an idea suggested by Bowie, to convey a man who had lost his belief.
The next year in 2002, Markus was approached by GQ Magazine in London to shoot Bowie for their prestigious 'Men of the Year' cover. Bowie was not available for the shoot, but he agreed that Markus could create a series of photo compositions using a body double and wild wolves. The resulting artworks are stunning and have become hugely collected across the world.
Rockarchive is proud to offer a selection of Markus' highly acclaimed Davis Bowie prints.
