Distinguished American artist Walter Knabe and renowned British rock and roll photographer Gered Mankowitz have joined forces to craft the Knabe Mankowitz Collection, a limited edition artwork series commemorating legendary musicians. Walter and Gered collaborated to create unique artworks showcasing iconic portrait photographs captured by Gered in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
"His photographs encapsulate the distinct essence of these musicians during crucial moments in their careers: be it on tour, in the studio, or simply in everyday life. Gered and I see ourselves as storytellers. Our aim was to narrate the journey of each musician, recognising their profound influence on countless lives across generations," Knabe explains.
Gered remarked, "I was so delighted when Walter first approached me with the proposal that we collaborate on a silkscreen project. His work is amazing and his expertise in the craft of print making is second to none, so I jumped at the chance to join him and create something new!"
Employing a blend of colours and intricate textures, the artworks preserved the authenticity of the original photographs. This approach allowed each work to resonate with emotion and vitality, all the while maintaining the individuality of each musician.
Rockarchive is delighted to be able to offer limited edition prints from this collection of Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Annie Lennox.
