Jimi Hendrix photographer Knabe & Mankowitz

Catalogue No: JH001GMWK Artist(s): Jimi Hendrix Location: UK Date: 1967 Era: 60's Music Artists Edition: Limited Edition 200 Print type: Screen Print Paper type: Fine Art Paper

Limited edition print of Jimi Hendrix created by Walter Knabe and Gered Mankowitz. The image blends Knabe's signature hand crafted screen printing and hand painted detail.

This print is known as Jimi '67 and was created from a black and white photograph by Mankowitz, known as "Jacket & Hands." The photograph captures a pivotal moment in Hendrix's career as he stood on the brink of fame. It was a time when he was first recognized as a serious solo artist, immersed in and invigorated by the vibrant "Swinging London" scene.

Knabe and Mankowitz collaborated to transform this photo into artwork that not only maintains the authenticity of the original image—showing Hendrix in one of his signature, avant-garde military jackets—but also encapsulates his spirit and the quintessential London style of the 1960s.

This print is from an edition of 200 and is signed by both Knabe and Mankowitz. A certificate of authenticity, signed by both Walter Knabe and Gered Mankowitz will also be provided.
