Jill Furmanovsky 'Photographing the Invisible' Exhibition: Manchester Library

For the last 50 years Jill Furmanovsky has been photographing the biggest names in rock music. Now for the first time, Jill is hosting a retrospective exhibition at Manchester Central Library showcasing iconic and hidden gems from her extensive archive.

Guest curated by Noel Gallagher and photo-historian Gail Buckland, the free music photography exhibition features over 100 images, including shots of Pink Floyd, Oasis, Chrissie Hynde, Joy Division, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Amy Winehouse, Billie Eilish and Nile Rodgers to name just a few - and many of the photographs are previously unseen.

The exhibition chronicles Jill's unprecedented career from her early days touring with Pink Floyd and as in-house photographer at the Rainbow Theatre, to her time working for the 70s & 80s music press and fashion magazines, to more recent years as artist-in-residence at Abbey Road Studios and hanging out backstage at Glastonbury. And of course, it includes her unique relationship with Oasis.

A special audio tour has been created to accompany the exhibition, narrated by Jill, Noel Gallagher & Chrissie Hynde, and a series of talks featuring Mark Cooper and Jon Savage are taking place in May. Details can be found here

Jill's exhibition tells the evolving story of both music and photography over the last half-century and demonstrates how her unique ability to form an emotional connection with her subjects has made her one of the world's greatest music photographers.

No music lover should miss it!
