We are really excited to announce that we will be launching our latest exhibition 'Chunk of Punk' at the Barbican Music Library from the start of March. Our very own, Jill Furmanovsky will be opening up her archive to share her collection of both well-known and unseen Punk images in a celebration of 40 years of Punk. A series of seminal shots of The Ramones, Buzzcocks, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Blondie, The Undertones, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Blondie, Iggy Pop and more will be featured.
In addition fans will be able to enjoy a feast of punk vinyl curated by Barbican Music Library curator Michael Southwell. The collection will include the covers of punk albums and singles that Jill Furmanovsky was involved with, either as photographer or designer. Homage will be paid to Sniffin Glue Magazine and the style of punk in series of wall hangings that will include photography and symbols of punk iconology. Jill is collaborating on these with fashion house, Earl of Bedlam and artist, Neal Simons.
Jill says, "I am delighted to be showcasing A Chunk of Punk at the Barbican Music Library. I have been inspired to delve deep into my archives to celebrate the creative energy and inclusiveness of the Punk movement summed up by Mark Ps famous dictum - If you can play three chords you can form a band - It is echoed by my own experience - If you train for two weeks you can be a photographer!"
The exhibition is part of Punk London: 40 Years of Subversive Culture which celebrates punk heritage and influence.
