Limited edition print of Cream by photographer Art Kane taken in Philadelphia, USA in 1968.
Cream, was a British blues band that put their unique stamp on the classic American blues genre. When Art Kane had the unique opportunity to shoot the band in April 1968, he chose to capture their distinctive spirit in a setting steeped in American music mythology - the open rails. The assignment was a "New Rock" photo essay for Life Magazine and Kane selected a westward-bound railroad track in Chads Ford, PA, a quaint rural area near Philadelphia where Cream was performing.
The shoot was scheduled in the late afternoon, aligning with a beautiful sunset at the peak of the tracks. During the session, drummer Ginger Baker, who was overjoyed by the news of his son's birth in the UK that morning, couldn't contain his excitement. He joyfully leaped into the air and tumbled down the embankment into bramble bushes, leading to him having to be cleaned up several times. The day concluded with an eventful visit to a diner in a small country town. There, Baker confronted some local Baker firemen who were laughing and pointing at them. Marching up to them he exclaimed; “What are you laughing at? Haven’t you ever seen an Englishman before? Look at you in your silly hats!”
The print is accompanied by an official Art Kane Estate document that is stamped, dated, edition numbered, and countersigned for authenticity by Jonathan Kane, Art Kane's son and Director of the Art Kane Archive. The document is created on archival crack and peel paper and can be placed on the back of the image, or on the back of the frame at the client's discretion.

A traditional C-type print is a colour print made in a darkroom from a colour negative or transparency. It is produced on light sensitive paper using a chromogenic process. Before digital technology, these were the prints we all received from the pharmacies from our holiday films. C-type prints are archival and are still preferred by some photographers and collectors to digital art prints.
