Bruce Springsteen

Catalogue No: BN002PCUN Artist(s): Bruce Springsteen Location: Philadelphia, USA Date: 1973 Era: The 1970's Edition: Artist Proof (A/P) Print type: Traditional Darkroom Print (Hand printed from the original negative) Paper type: Ilford Warmtone Fibre Based paper

Photographer Peter Cunningham recalls, "In the spring of '73 that Columbia sent me down again to Philly to be with the band on the occasion of their first arena show at The Spectrum, Bruce was the opening act for Chicago.  I was welcomed to shoot from the stage so I stood behind Vinnie Lopez the drummer at the time and watched as a good part of the audience booed and called out for Chicago to come on stage: even the King of Rock and Roll can't sail into a hurricane.  Later, when travelling in Jordan on a "listening trip" with Richard Gere and Bernie Glassman, I spied a record shop in Amman whose signage featured a colour painting obviously made from one of the pictures I made that night behind the drummer."

  • Print type

A traditional dark room print is hand printed by a master printer in a darkroom from the original negative.  In a world of digital printing, hand printing has become both different and special. Putting a Black and White or colour negative into an enlarger and “making” a print by hand gives a crafted and individual feel.

Our printers will apply their skill and interpretation to make the best prints from your negatives - prints are individually enlarged, dodged and shaded for the best results.

    Paper type

Ilford Warmtone Fibre Based paper is specifically designed for the creative printer wanting the ultimate in quality, with warm image colour and a high response to toning techniques. It is a premium quality, variable contrast, black and white photographic paper, coated onto a 255g/m2 fibre base.

This product will, quite simply, deliver a final quality print unlike anything else you can use in the darkroom, which is why it is so extensively used around the world for exhibition printing. It consistently produces the superior quality expected from an ILFORD photographic paper, and it’s versatility and response to darkroom techniques never fails to please.

    'A series' print paper sizes

Our prints are available in a variety of sizes. Please see below for specific measurements for the 'A series' of paper sizes.

  • Framing

A great print deserves a great frame. At Rockarchive we would be delighted to advise you on how best to select the right frame for your print. Please just let us know when you place your order or contact us once you have received your print and we will discuss the various options with you.

If you live in London we can arrange to get your print framed for you. Once the print is framed you can either collect it from our London Rockarchive Studio, in Kentish Town or we can arrange for it to be delivered to your London address (at an extra charge).

If you live elsewhere in the UK, we can arrange to get smaller sized prints framed and shipped to you. However due to postage regulations acrylic (eg perspex) rather than glass needs to be used in the frame.
