During the years 1973-1976 writer/producer Geoff MacCormack toured with David Bowie on the Aladdin Sane and Ziggy Stardust tour as backing vocalist/percussionist; backing vocalist/dance/mime artist on the Diamond Dogs tour, and as backing vocalist/support band on the Young Americans tour. During this period he also recorded on the six albums from Aladdin Sane to Station to Station and also co wrote the music for Rock and Roll With Me on Diamond Dogs Turn Blue with Iggy Pop on the album Lust For Life.
Geoff Also hung out on the sets of The Man Who Fell To Earth as a completely inappropriate stand in for David Bowie.
Throughout the touring years of 1973-1976 Bowie wouldn’t fly so the pair of old childhood school friends circumnavigated the world by ship, train and land. The extensive time spent traveling and the methods used meant Geoff had unique opportunities to collect photographic memories of the tours with Bowie, and this reflects in the simple, relaxed off-guard moments David has been captured in, these moments along with written diaries of the time can be found in Geoff’s book about the adventure From Station to Station (Genesis Publications)
Later an award winning (Ivor Novello, Gold Clio) writer for film scores and TV commercials, Geoff has had the rare phenomenon of scoring a number 3 national chart success with an original composition from a TV ad spot, “Only You” by praise followed by an internationally acclaimed album for Warner Bros./Giant Records.
