Cover shot of Beyoncé taken by Markus Klinko in 2003 and used for her debut solo album Dangerously in Love.

In 2003 Beyonce approached Klinko asking him to shoot a diamond-themed portrait to be featured on her upcoming solo album. Her mother, who was her stylist, brought a diamond top for Beyoncé to wear on the shoot. However, she hesitated to wear it because they only had skirts available for the bottom half of her outfit and she was worried it would look too 'red carpet'. In her determination to achieve the desired look, Klinko generously offered his jeans to complete her ensemble, and the iconic cover shot was created!

Speaking to The Guardian in 2023 Markus Klinko said, "People ask if that meant I wasn’t wearing any trousers while shooting her, but I was – I had another pair, luckily. A few months later, she returned the jeans. She’d had them cleaned and they were nicely wrapped with a ribbon."

Markus Klinko's limited edition prints are hand-numbered, signed, and available in the following edition sizes:

Small - 20.0 x 24.0" Edition of 50
Medium - 33.1 x 40.0" Edition of 25

Larger sizes are also available. Printed by Weldon Color lab on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Digital Pearl Paper.

A traditional C-type print is a colour print made in a darkroom from a colour negative or transparency. It is produced on light sensitive paper using a chromogenic process. Before digital technology, these were the prints we all received from the pharmacies from our holiday films. C-type prints are archival and are still preferred by some photographers and collectors to digital art prints.
