Bruce Springsteen

Catalogue No: BN006PCUN Artist(s): Bruce Springsteen Location: The Bottom Line, New York Date: 1975 Era: The 1970's Edition: Artist Proof (A/P) Print type: Traditional Darkroom Print (Hand printed from the original negative) Paper type: Ilford Warmtone Fibre Based paper

Peter Cunningham recalls 'Then the Bottom Line gigs, first the one in '74 and then the one that broke Bruce's career in '75, when he was simultaneously on the covers of Time and Newsweek.  The shows those two years were substantially the same, different material but the same Bruce, the public difference was that the business management had changed, the world opened its doors to another overnight sensation.   People really loved those performances; there was joy in the air.   I was the staff photographer at The Bottom Line, I had all access for those ten shows and I shot through eight of them, once cutting a hole in the sound booth fabric above the stage to get an unusual angle. And the matured kid from New Jersey had become some kind of intellectual behind my back he could handle all comers at all the different levels, and still his manner was relaxed and open.  Now performers were coming backstage to him and most everyone was beginning to admit he was a pretty damn good guitar player.'

  • Print type

A traditional dark room print is hand printed by a master printer in a darkroom from the original negative.  In a world of digital printing, hand printing has become both different and special. Putting a Black and White or colour negative into an enlarger and “making” a print by hand gives a crafted and individual feel.

Our printers will apply their skill and interpretation to make the best prints from your negatives - prints are individually enlarged, dodged and shaded for the best results.

    Paper type

Ilford Warmtone Fibre Based paper is specifically designed for the creative printer wanting the ultimate in quality, with warm image colour and a high response to toning techniques. It is a premium quality, variable contrast, black and white photographic paper, coated onto a 255g/m2 fibre base.

This product will, quite simply, deliver a final quality print unlike anything else you can use in the darkroom, which is why it is so extensively used around the world for exhibition printing. It consistently produces the superior quality expected from an ILFORD photographic paper, and it’s versatility and response to darkroom techniques never fails to please.
