Richard Matthews grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and soon became immersed in punk and new wave music. His first few assignments were photographing Bow Wow Wow and the Thompson Twins for the University Ents magazine. Distracted by this and having failed his first year exams, he then enrolled on a degree in Photography, Film and Television at Harrow College in Middlesex, during which time he managed to combine a love of photography and music by blagging his way into many gigs and events.
During those years he captured many great bands including The Smiths, The Clash, Miles Davis, Slade, Echo & Bunnymen, The Damned & Pete Burns. We are delighted to add a selection of Richard's work to our collection. Richard has not previously been published and so many of his images are being seen here for the first time.
