GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL COLLECTION
This weekend should have been the greatest Glastonbury ever; a celebration of its 50th anniversary. The stage would have been set for headliners such as Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and Sir Paul McCartney and 200,000 people would have flocked to Worthy Farm to enjoy the greatest music festival on the planet. But sadly this year there is no festival, the coronavirus epidemic has put pay to that but it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate and revel in Glastonbury’s legacy.
The BBC will be sharing a weekend of classic Glastonbury performances from some of the biggest artists in the history of the festival including Adele (2016), Beyoncé (2011), David Bowie (2000), which will be the first time that performance has ever been broadcast in full on television, Coldplay (2016) and Jay-Z (2008)
So in celebration of the festival’s 50th Anniversary, we have put together our own tribute by sharing a selection of our favourite photos from across the years. Some of these great photos by Jill Furmanovsky are being shown for the first time, many were included in the book Glastonbury 50: The Official Story of Glastonbury Festival and others are iconic shots that have graced our collection for many years. Also included are a selection of fantastic atmospheric prints by Andi Blake.
We have also collaborated directly with the Glastonbury Festival and created a special limited edition Bruce Sprinsteen print. The image was taken whilst 'The Boss' performed on the Pyramid Stage in 2009. To find out more details visit the official Glastonbury Festival site here
