  • For me, this picture sums up John & Yoko 1969, the look of wrapt feeling that Yoko feels for John as he delivers his words says it all. They could not then have known how difficult the path ahead would be, the difficulties of getting married, getting accepted and having children, all the troubles of John’s career, the writing and publication of ‘Imagine’, their internecine problems, right up to the moment of his death. Only the two of them existed for each other.

  • John Lennon and Yoko sit in their kitchen surrounded by portraits of Che Guevara and others who have fanned or aided the cause of revolution. John. A rebel himself who returned his M.B.E. to the Queen with the message “l am returning the M.B.E. in protest against Britain’s involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam and against Cold Turkey slipping down the charts”. He was never averse to a little humour being slipped in.

  • Taken at Patti Smiths Meltdown in June 2005 this shot captures the power Yoko still generates. Even to this day Yoko is controversial. Prior to taking this shot she had emerged through a cut in a film screen, making it look as though the projected character had come to life and was walking out of the film towards you. The effect was complimented by the fact that she wore a black bag over her head, making it difficult to find her microphone! Backed by her son Sean she blew the place away. Not bad for a lady in her 70’s-certianly the trendiest bag lady around. The only thing she carried was the audience.
