  • The Subways were a new band on the scene. I had been photographing them for a while, documenting their progressive climb to the stars. They had won a competition to play on the Other Stage at Glastonbury, Saturday first on at 12:30. It was damp, raining but a good crowd crawled from their tents to watch them. The three of them rock the huge stage as if they were back in the Buffalo Bar in Islington. Their performance that afternoon put them in the spotlight and wrote their future as one of Britain’s top bands.

  • The Subways were on their 1am Tour. They were promoting the soon to be released first album, ‘Young Fro Eternity’. I followed them for the last three days, Brighton-Bristol-Exeter. It was a fun time and their first experience of touring. This was taken moments before they went on stage for the last of the month long tour that saw them perform over 25 gigs. IT was a simple moment captured in a small dirty backroom but has been used extensively and is probably the most recognisable image of the band.
