Peter Anderson

Peter Anderson prefers to make photographs rather than just take them. Known for his portraits of the famous and infamous he also undergoes commissions of people, places and things for advertising and documentary.

He attended Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London, he was staff photographer at New Musical Express and Sounds in the 1980s, and has also worked for publications that include The Face, iD, Spin, Rockin’on and Rolling Stone, as well as with international record companies.

“As a photographer working outside staged studio settings, in order to get this one iconic shot, you need to be a) in the right place at the right time, b) have to know your trusted tools of choice, and c) should be incredibly skilled in terms of your profession and getting along with people and all these attributes are embodied to perfection in the work of London-based photographer Peter Anderson. Regardless what kind of music you're into, it is more than likely that your idol - or, depending on your age, your idol's idol - has been immortalised on a roll of black and white film by Anderson. Looking at his highly impressive and characteristic body of work, it feels as if he was somehow able to capture the soundtrack of our lives, indeed. Music is forever and so is the photography of Peter Anderson" -  Lodown Magazine - 2024
