    I arrived at the sound check as he was running through his guitars, between instruments I introduced myself and asked if I might take some photographs – 'Sure, give me 10 minutes to run through my guitars and I'll let you know to start. 'So I sat and listened, like being at a private recital - until he looked over and nodded, after 3 or 4 minutes shooting he looked over again – smiled, and I knew the shoot was over. This picture was taken in concert later with his great quartet - Brad Mehldau , Larry Grenadier and Jeff Ballard.
