  • I think this was taken in Rhode Island on the second American tour. I love to shoot musicians in hotel rooms, bland furniture, bland pictures on the wall - so much part of the lifestyle of a rock musician. On that tour Liam seemed to be permanently glued into a brown checked coat that he wore buttoned up to the neck. I rang his room and he agreed to let me take some pix. That is how I found him and that is how I left him. I don't think we exchanged words.

  • To wear your woman's white cable knit sweater in front of a crowd of 125,000 takes some guts but Liam wore it with a swagger and pulled it off. This was a tremendous show that I and everyone who was there will never forget.

  • In July 1996 Oasis hired one of the huge NEC halls in Birmingham to rehearse for Knebworth, Loch Lomond and Cork. Half a million people saw those shows. This was taken at a full lighting and sound dress rehearsal. It is Liam who is sitting cross-legged on the floor listening intently to his favourite band.

  • I traveled with Oasis from Frankfurt to Amsterdam. This was taken in Schipol Airport while we waited for the luggage. I rounded them up and asked them to sit on the edge of the conveyor belt. I was just focusing on Noel and Liam, when suddenly in the background of my shot I saw a pair of legs sail past. It was Bonehead lying on his back with his legs in the air being a piece of luggage on the now moving conveyor belt. For part two of his comedy act he leapt onto Noel's lap and kissed him. Gotta be quick round that lot and I often miss the shots but that one was a goal.

  • Guitarists often head for the nearest guitar shop when they get a day off on the road. On this British tour Noel Gallagher had an afternoon off with Johnny Marr. Together with Jason Rhodes, Noel's guitar tech, they visited guitar shops in the Leeds area. Noel told me how thrilled he had been when Johnny Marr gave him one of his guitars in the early days when he was broke. Now he was able to buy any guitar that took his fancy. He couldn't get over that.

  • Oasis were rehearsing at the Music Bank, a regular haunt before tours. There is a flat roof on top of the building which overlooks a grid of railways lines heading to and from London Bridge. For some unknown reason, Liam took pleasure in giving his famous two finger salute to trains speeding past.
When Oasis, well Liam in particular, offended the United States in the late 1990's and early 2000's, they took it personally. There was no need. Liam offends all nations and creeds equally including his nearest and dearest. Bless him!

  • Terrible vibes between Noel and Liam produced a wonderful set of pictures. Liam was drunk and minutes before this was taken had been chasing Parisians on bicycles over the bridge before hurling his drink at the wall. To make things worse we were being tailed by paparazzi. Noel was thoroughly fed up but the session continued. The strange angles sum up the dark mood of the day.

  • “When I look at this picture, I don’t hear the crowds roar or find myself standing back on the stage. All I remember is the nightmare of trying to walk to the front without tripping over the cables and making a cunt of myself! After the show I was trying to take it all in, watching everybody go, and it was a weird thing because the lights were all on and it was dark outside it looked like a big front-room, except there were 2,000 people in it. Maine Road was where we all used to go as kids. So I was standing there, trying to make sure I never forgot this moment.” - Noel Gallagher.

  • Oasis were supporting U2 in America. This picture was taken while Noel was singing ’Don’t Look Back In Anger’. Liam was watching him intently from the side of the stage and I was shooting pictures of him. Suddenly Bono loomed into view on the right and I quickly swopped focus from left to right. I was using a Nikon F5 and an 85mm lens. I think this is one of the best live images I've ever taken.
