Q&A night with Gail Buckland

12/03/2010

Last month the Rockarchive Gallery in Islington hosted a Q&A for Gail Buckland and the launch of her book, 'Who Shot Rock and Roll'.

The evening started with drinks and canapes in the Rockarchive Gallery. Gail was entertaining everyone with her stories and thoughts on photographs that have shaped the history of Rock and Roll, signing books for some lucky customers.

Fredericks Restaurant then turned host as we ascended to their conference room where Gail talked avidly about the book and the process that was needed to complete the project. Jill Furmanovsky was along side Gail helping with stories of her moments in the pit and what it was like to be the photographer of some of the amazing images seen in the book.

Gail Buckland is the author of 11 books including The Magic Image (Pavillion, 1989) which she co-authored with Cecil Beaton. She is former curator of the Royal Photographic Society and is a professor of the history of photography at the Cooper Union.
