Round three's winner of the Friday Foto contest is Ed Fielding. Each week now we have been getting more and more entries, the quality of photography is outstanding! It is getting harder to pick the winners, but Ed's shot of Biffy Clyro's singer Simon Neil stood out (top middle). The capture of the pose, the difficulty of exposure for the lighting, it was perfect. Thanks to everyone who entered over the weeks, try again, and maybe you will be promoted here in two months time!
Ed Fielding.
Based in the spar town of Harrogate North Yorkshire I have been a photographer for over 20 years. My music photographry took off approximately five years ago when asked to shoot for a local webzine called Leeds Music Scene. I was noticed by Ade Fenton - Gary Numans Manager/producer when he saw my work on flickr. He liked the atmosphere I had captured and the style of creative photography.
As a result of this I was asked to do the photographic work for Ade Fentons cd Artificial Perfect released in 2008. In addition to this I also did a series of live work and studio images for Ade which also featured Gary Numan as he had worked on five of Ade's album tracks. I then went on to become Gary Numans offcial photographer in 2009. I have work pending for release in 2010 for Gary's cd "Dead Son Rising".
I currently shoot with a Canon 5dmk2 however my photographic career started with a Zenith B and seprate light meter whilst doing a correspondence course with Mallinsons School of Photography. I was living in Kuwait with my parents at the time.
On my return to the UK in 1979 I quickly drifted into photographic retail work and developed my knowlegde of photographic equpment and developing skills. I continued this for a number of years.
I became self employed in 2006 with a new style of Wedding Photography and became involved with music photography through Leeds Music Scene.
I have also had recent success with images that have been published within the box set of Florence and The Machine Lungs and work published with NME.com. I am currently shooting for Virtual Festivals & Leeds Music Scene.
My future...
To continue to work with Ade and Gary. I would also like to continue to work with other artists in order to achieive my goal of being a respected known name within the industry.
