  • I was assigned by New York magazine in June 1995 to shoot the taping of the last episode of The Jon Stewart Show on MTV. Walking around backstage I passed a dressing room, saw Marilyn Manson lounging around and did a double take! Unbeknownst to me, they were the musical guests on the show that night. I popped my head in and asked if I could shoot them and they agreed right away. They couldn’t have been more pleasant or cooperative, especially Marilyn, who instantly stood up and, without being asked, dropped his pants. Later he posed on the couch with his Chitty Chitty Bang Bang lunch box. At some point Trent Reznor dropped by, and the atmosphere quickly became more like a party. Shortly after this was taken the band went on and Marilyn was jumping on Jon Stewart’s back and setting fire to the stage.
