The Stones were a well oiled machine when they reached the Twickenham stage of the Stones Hot Licks Tour. We were ushered up to a lip just under the stage which enabled us to perch ourselves right on the edge of the stage, cameras at the ready. As the opening cords for Brown Sugar kicked in and the PA announced “Ladies and Gentlemen the greatest rock “n” roll band in the world the Rolling Stones” the place erupted. Mick Jagger flitted out like a dragonfly and worked every inch of the stage, confirming his status as the greatest front man around. Shortly afterwards Keef Richard ambled up to where I was, knelt in front of me, put his guitar on my shoulder and said “Nice shirt- Rock 'n' Roll Baby”. I forgot the 65,000 behind me and shot away. This is the kind of gig I’d always dreamt of doing- it was exactly how I hoped it would be. <<
