  • This was my first stadium concert with at least 50 other photographers, all trying to get that unique shot. Playing Brown Sugar, The Rolling Stones stormed the stage, 11 minutes later, my first big concert was over. Most photographers put their equipment in their cars and returned with their tickets to watch the gig. I had neither a car, or a ticket, but I did have this incredible shot of Keith.
During the gig I was annoyed because I was with the photographers on the left side of the stage and Keith was on slide on his knees to the right side of the stage! Through my lens I saw him turn his head and look towards me, I clicked the shutter.
I personally like the look in his eyes and the handkerchief which looks like a rose. It is funny to see he is wearing ordinary All Stars.

  • Believe it or not this was my first Rolling Stones gig. I had photographed Mick, Charlie, Ronnie Wood and Bill Wyman individually in the past but never as the greatest band on earth. So when I finally got to see them and shoot the first 3 songs like all the other press photographers I concentrated on getting a good picture of Kieth and this is it. Blue Keith, Reptilian Keith. His assistant bought one so I must have caught something special!

  • The Stones were a well oiled machine when they reached the Twickenham stage of the Stones Hot Licks Tour. We were ushered up to a lip just under the stage which enabled us to perch ourselves right on the edge of the stage, cameras at the ready. As the opening cords for Brown Sugar kicked in and the PA announced “Ladies and Gentlemen the greatest rock “n” roll band in the world the Rolling Stones” the place erupted. Mick Jagger flitted out like a dragonfly and worked every inch of the stage, confirming his status as the greatest front man around. Shortly afterwards Keef Richard ambled up to where I was, knelt in front of me, put his guitar on my shoulder and said “Nice shirt- Rock 'n' Roll Baby”. I forgot the 65,000 behind me and shot away. This is the kind of gig I’d always dreamt of doing- it was exactly how I hoped it would be.
