Melody Maker sent writer Paulo Hewitt and I to do a story on The Clash. The concert was in an old bicycle racing stadium in Milan. Everyone was smoking pot and drinking beer in the basement dressing room... read more so when I finally started to shoot the mood was intense. When the band finally took the stage and the audience held up their bic lighters, it was all so "cosmic" that in my stoned state I stumbled across the stage in the middle of the opening song clutching my camera and had to be dragged off by a roadie.
