  • I have never liked photographing festivals very much, the stages are too high, daylight lit stages, I get bored. This was made even worse through out the day by being marched around as if being taken on a school trip. All I had to look forward to was the chance to photograph Foo Fighters at the end of the evening. It was good for my moral. Thick drizzle began to fall as Dave Grohl walked out onstage. I loved Nirvana and Dave’s drumming. I love Foo Fighters just as much. A simple live shot, you take what you are given. During those first three songs Dave gave everything.

  • Ricky (Kaiser Chiefs) had flown over from Scotland a day early to do this shot with Dave just after The Foo Fighters had headlined the ‘T In-The-Park’ festival. Although it was just a portakabin they somehow managed to strike a Gilbert and George pose for me.

  • This was backstage at a small venue in London called ULU (University of London Union), extremely small for The Foo Fighters anyway. I’d had the idea to drape the towel over his head beforehand – thankfully he obliged before the tour manager dragged him away.
