Denis’ first ever picture sale was of Queen, taken in 1976 at the Hammersmith Odeon, and Denis was proud to return to the Odeon with David Bowie in 1983, as official photographer on David’s Serious Moonlight world tour.

During the Punk years of the late Seventies, Denis became a major contributor to NME, photographing the icons of the era before moving on to work extensively for the European colour music press, which brought him into contact with the New Romantic innovators.

Through the Eighties and Nineties, Denis toured the world as official photographer to the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Queen, Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Spandau Ballet, Thin Lizzy, Neil Diamond and the Bee Gees, and was official photographer at numerous events, including the Wembley Stadium Live Aid concert. He has produced five books of his photographs, three of them official publications, and with Bob Geldof conceived and co-ordinated the record-setting Live Aid book.

Denis was chosen as backstage studio photographer for Clarence House at the Wembley Stadium Concert for Diana, and was official photographer for MTV’s European Music Awards & the hugely successful Download Festival for four years. Recent clients include Damien Hirst. Denis has recently set up publishing company Intense, to create contemporary limited edition books.

Denis has a keen interest in cutting edge technology – he was the first rock photographer to use autofocus cameras, and has worked with Photoshop since 1990. In January 2010 he launched his latest web site at www.denis.co.uk.
